Correlation and Causation

The biggest mistake not only in the SEO scene is the confusion between correlation and causation. Ranking facts were published over many years: which data has the most impact on ranking in the search results.

But ranking facts like that are “correlation facts”. They do not tell a lot about causation. In fact there are hundreds of ranking facts and you do not know, which one you should change to get better results.

Start with the website data

 You need a crawler that fetches all data of your website. If you change something, if you did an update, implemented a plugin, switched something in the URL hierarchy – you need a crawler that fetches all data immediately. You should detect any mistake before Google will crawl it. 

Then you must analyze the collected data. And you should export that data, create reports and combine them with other data like backlinks, text analysis, and so on.
